"Uncertainty is a sign of humility, and humility is just the ability or willingness to learn."9/25/2014 i don't always post inspired anecdotes in the blog, but felt moved to do so this time...but if you're here for the recipe of the month....scroll down :) You'll never guess who said that quote in the title...CHARLIE SHEEN! I am begrudgingly yet humbly acknowledging the intelligence and poignancy of that statement. Now to continue what the newsletter said.... I am definitely one of those people who shares more uplifting inspiration and the days that I have that seem more success and positivity. Does that mean I have the perfect life? No....it means that I am CHOOSING to see the light at the end of the tunnel on those days when things aren't going my way. It is not anyone on my social network's burden to console me on a bad day...that is truly impersonal and a total cop out on MY part...It is MY responsibility to personally seek out support from people who can get me through it with real human interaction. Wouldn’t it be so great if we could look at those positive posts from those who seem to have it together as an invitation for more personal communication? If you see someone that is continually positive and sharing their success, then why not reach out to them and soak up that energy over a phone call or a coffee date? There is a lot of animosity developing through the misperceptions of information being put out on social media. "Ain’t nobody got time fa dat!" Let's all let ourselves be vulnerable once in a while through human interaction and reach out to one another to see how we can lift eachother up. It’s something I’m always getting better at and always find reward in doing so. If you're looking for positive reinforcement or you actually do wanna know how I handle my bad days for your own benefit, I welcome any and all personal communication available through social media. recipe of the Month: Pumpkin ChiliIngredients:
1 can rinsed organic lentils 1 can rinsed organic kidney beans 1 cup chopped shiitake mushrooms 1 cup chopped celery 3/4 cup organic pumpkin puree 1/4 of a large red onion chopped 8 oz of your favorite gluten free beer 1 tsp organic tomato paste 1 chopped poblano pepper 1/2 box of gluten free, low sodium veggie stock (optional) 1 cup of cooked quiona or brown rice olive oil for cooking Spices: 2 tsp chili powder (1 tsp for mushroom topping/1 tsp for chili) 2 tsp ground cumin (1 tsp for mushroom topping/1 tsp for chili) 1 bay leaf 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp sea salt 1 tsp oregano 1 tsp coriander So you tell your friends that you're about to start the 5 Day Reset And the first thing they ask is, "Do you have to give up wine?" Then one of them says, "I did the Master Cleanse once - I only drank nasty cayenne lemonade for 10 days." And you say, "Wow, that sounds terrible." Then everyone begins telling their most horrific juicing stories, competing for most-pathetic. And the whole time you're like... Because they wasted days doing this... And waking up like this Then your loud friend says, "You're going to hate your life the whole time." And you're like... Because this isn't a juice cleanse. (Please, you're smarter than that.) You're into eating real food. Especially the kind that tastes like dessert :) Plus, you've already done the Reset 3 other times. Because it makes you feel damn good and your energy levels spike... AND you make GREAT poops... You start #winningatkitchen thanks to the recipes... AND you kinda met awesome people during it. As you're explaining this, their faces are like Then suddenly everyone and their mom thinks #BOOM #WINNING Do a 5-day reset and feel Fan-Frickin-Tastic... don't be lame
